"'You have breast cancer.' Those words will knock the breath out of anyone,” Sheri Malone said. Malone, a Keller Williams associate and productivity coach at the Houston Metropolitan (Texas) market center, was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2007. After multiple surgeries and chemotherapy, she is now a seven-year cancer survivor. On October 6, 2014, Sheri was awarded the Spirit of Courage award at the 13th annual Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation Luncheon. Sheri was honored for her courage and her ability to encourage others diagnosed with breast cancer.

This year, the Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation luncheon raised a record $125,000. The foundation has awarded more than $1.3 million to breast cancer research. Sheri has attended all of the Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation luncheons since 2002 with the exception of the 2007 luncheon when she was going through her treatments. The foundation is particularly special to Sheri as Nancy Owens was a colleague and friend. “I would not be standing here were it not for my faith in God and my family and friends. I am so grateful to the foundation for giving me the opportunity to publicly thank them. I gratefully acknowledge that this award is because of Him and you,” Sheri said in her acceptance speech.

Sheri's mother, a 12 year breast cancer survivor, attended the luncheon to watch her daughter accept this wonderful honor.

Sheri was also joined by 19 Keller Williams associates from her market center. These associates are truly living the Keller Williams mission by building careers worth having, businesses worth owning, and lives worth living. Sheri Malone Keller Williams

Best of all, they are doing it together as a team. Congratulations on your award Sheri! We are all so very proud to be part of your family.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. On October 24, 2014, KWRI associates participated in Wear it Pink to support breast cancer survivors just like Sheri.
