Unleash Your Potential and Find Purpose

KW Kids Can is teaching the next generation of entrepreneurs and world leaders how to gain a competitive edge no matter what industry they pursue. By introducing young adults to concepts, principles and concrete tools unlike anything they’ve come across in a traditional classroom, KW Kids Can is enabling individuals to succeed at the highest level.

Those who have attended KW Kids Can’s life lessons and productivity course, Quantum Leap (QL), have reported making changes in their life, both large and small, as a direct result. While some have been inspired to obtain higher education or focus on accelerating their professional growth, others have decided to take the leap and start their own business or charity.

Here is the story of a young woman who experienced Quantum Leap and shared how, as a result, she found her life’s mission and passion.

A Victor, Not A Victim
TTanner.jpgMeet Teagan Tanner from Wasilla, Alaska. Over July fourth weekend 2015, Tanner, who was 22 years old at the time, almost lost her life in an ATV accident.

While traveling a short distance between camps, at just 5 mph, Tanner suffered an injury to her head requiring 88 stitches and nine staples. Her doctors told her she shouldn’t have lived and that all of this could have been avoided had she been wearing a helmet.

Tanner had attended Quantum Leap just a few months prior and it left a lasting impression: “Quantum Leap changed my entire perspective,” Tanner says. My “aha” moment had come to me at Quantum Leap: “You can’t think your way through life, you have to do it.” And so, after her accident, while feeling unsure of where she wanted her life to go, she decided to turn this misfortune into a positive.

Tanner says that people have to be action oriented. “Being in the room with Gary was incredibly inspiring and motivating,” she says. “He told us that if you don’t know what your ONE Thing is, find somebody who does until you do.

This statement made Tanner realize two things:

1. It was all right to be where she was currently until she knows where she wants to go.

2. When she is successful in figuring that out, she has the tools to get from here to there.

Before the workshop portion of Quantum Leap, Tanner had never considered creating a personal mission statement. When given the opportunity to create a road map for her life, she embraced the exercise. To this day, she still references it to ensure that her decisions remain aligned with her life’s goals.

Tanner turned her accident into her life’s passion by founding a nonprofit called Helmets On Heads. Her goal is to help others by sharing her story and hopefully preventing what happened to her from happening to others.

Additionally, Helmets On Heads provides a helmet exchange program where people can donate a helmet that is either too big or too small in exchange for one that fits, making sure there is a helmet on every head. To date, Tanner is proud to have gifted 93 helmets and raised $49,000 for her program.

“Quantum Leap was such a good think tank; it was so valuable to me that I want to return,” Tanner says.

This summer, young adults have the rare opportunity to experience the course with Gary Keller.  Attendees will hear firsthand Keller’s candid life journey and learn how to get their “unfair share” in our increasingly competitive world. The following day, individuals will participate in a hands-on workshop.
