Success Tips
Mike and Lindsay McCarthy, the authors of The Miracle Morning for Parents and Families, co-authored by Hal Elrod, author of the original The Miracle Morning, share tips to help make your mornings with your family more productive and enjoyable.
The parents of two young children, Mike and Lindsay endeavored to not only give meaning to each morning, but to embrace them. Mornings are often hurried and rushed as working parents scramble to get their children to school and themselves to work on time. But it doesn't have to be this way.
It wasn’t until Mike and Lindsay earnestly sought answers to take control and instill meaning into their mornings that they started to approach these early hours with purpose – and even calm. “We both have always emphasized personal growth in our lives, and as parents it became a necessity,” Mike says.
Mike, who has been a Keller Williams associate for more than 15 years, says, “I grew up in Keller Williams. Quantum Leap was my first introduction to personal growth and the value of it. Later, it was Gary Keller who taught me the importance of morning rituals.”
It was after the McCarthys became parents that they heard Hal Elrod speak about The Miracle Morning and his unique take on morning rituals called Life SAVERS. The acronym stands for silence, affirmation, visualization, exercise, reading and scribing. Now, fully vested in the Miracle Morning rituals, Lindsay and Mike’s children began showing interest in what their parents were doing differently each morning. Their mornings grew into an essential family activity of the SAVERS.
Although the impact of this new family observance was life changing, the McCarthys learned that Elrod’s methods could be tailored to suit parents, families and children.
With the graces from Hal Elrod himself, they wrote The Miracle Morning for Parents and Families. The book works on the same premise of being deliberate in your daily actions, with a specified focus on CHARMS: creativity, health, affirmation, reading, meditation and service. The framework outlined by the McCarthys is based on the same principles as The Miracle Morning and is designed to build a more satisfying relationship with your children.
Creating a loving and successful home life begins every day.
Lindsay says, “The Miracle Morning has forced me to become more playful and present with my children. I have connected with my inner child, which has nourished my relationship with my children and has made me a better parent.”
Mike says, “By mastering the rituals in the book, I’ve improved my ability to ask better questions and to create more spaces for answers. As parents, we are always looking to better our lives, which is why we chose to pepper our book with parenting advice from some of the people we have learned from.”
As the success of their book continues, so do their personal growth endeavors. The McCarthys advise parents to get their children started with the principle of growth as early as possible. To help parents do this, they are now working on a children’s picture book around this idea. The goal of their new book is to augment their current one by giving parents a teaching opportunity while also accessing children directly.
